Ontario Masons

Brethren, with some cooler temperatures coming in, it’s a reminder to us all that Summer is pretty much over, and lodges are back in session. If you haven’t been out to Lodge for some time, take this year as the opportunity to break off the rust and have a Rusty Mason night and ignite some fellowship with lodge-inspired events. A new Trestle Board will be distributed with corrections to a couple of phone numbers and the updated date for the final Official Visit at Wingham Lodge No.286.

District Meeting

The District Meeting was held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The District Secretary has distributed meeting minutes.

District Charity

I am actively working with R.W. Bro. Stephen Hearn and R.W. Bro. Doug Stewart on setting up the District Charity with the Masonic Foundation of Ontario (MFO). In doing so, all monies raised will then be matched with a top-up percentage of 33% from the MFO. My goal is to raise $15,000, excluding the top-up additional value. It may be an ambitious goal, but I have confidence in our District.

The three brick & mortar buildings are:

  • Huron Hospice: 98 Shipley Street, Clinton
  • Jessica’s House Hospice: 70776 London Road, Exeter
  • Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth: 80 Greenwood Drive, Stratford

These hospices are located in Huron & Perth Counties. For example, if someone lived in Listowel, they could go to the Rotary Hospice in Stratford. I have also confirmed this example directly with the facility and have been advised that many from Listowel have chosen this location for their loved ones.

If you would like to contribute to this District Charity, please make a memo note that the funds are for allocation to the Huron District Charity.

District Social Events

I have been informed that the Tudor Lodge 141 Food Booth at the recent Mitchell Fall Fair was an outstanding success! All proceeds raised are going back to support their local community, specifically the Mitchell Kids Breakfast Program. Well done!

There are a couple of special events scheduled for November. On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Huron District Freemasons will be walking in the St. Marys Remembrance Day Parade. This event will start at the Royal Canadian Branch No. 236, located at 66 Church St. N, St. Marys. The event line-up is at 12:15 PM sharp. This is a whole regalia event for all Brethren. I encourage you to participate in your local event to represent your Lodge. However, if this is not the case, please consider participating in the St. Marys event. It’s a compelling positive image to see Freemasons join in a public Remembrance Day event with full regalia.

I look forward to a great showing to honour those who fought for our country and freedom.

The Huron District Grand Master’s Reception will take place on Friday, November 28, 2025, in Mitchell, Ontario. The last time this event occurred was in 2018, when it was held in the South Huron District under PDDGM, R.W. Bro. Stephen Hearn. Ticket sales are progressing, with approximately 25% of the tickets sold. I would like to see representation from all Lodges in the District in a show of support for our Grand Master, M.W. Bro. Jamie R. Ireland. Non-Masons are allowed to attend the event. This is a great way to have an interested candidate be a
